Hello! My name is...
Angelica Renteria
Angelica’s passion for pediatrics began with her own experience as a child. At just 10 years old, she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes (T1D) and spent a week in the hospital. The compassion and reassurance she and her family received from her nurses left a lasting impression and ultimately inspired her to pursue a career caring for children.
Originally from Houston, Angelica earned her Bachelor of Science and Arts in Nutrition from The University of Texas at Austin. She went on to earn her Master of Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice in Pediatric Primary Care from Emory University. Before becoming a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Angelica worked as a Registered Nurse at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where she cared for children with neurological, endocrine, and respiratory conditions.
As a first-generation Latina and native Spanish speaker, Angelica is passionate about increasing representation in healthcare and providing families with high-quality care in the language they are most comfortable speaking. Her own experience living with Type 1 diabetes also gives her a personal understanding of the challenges children and families can face when navigating both acute and chronic health conditions.
Angelica was drawn to pediatric primary care because of the opportunity to build lasting relationships with families and care for children throughout every stage of childhood. She is excited to join Neighborly MD and looks forward to getting to know families in the Pflugerville community.
Outside of work, Angelica enjoys live music, knitting, and exploring local thrift stores and estate sales.
